Once started it causes hate and "mean people" on all sides affected.

I see you continued to think on the subject. I understand your perspective, most certainly. And while I did like the way you put your thoughts together, I still strongly disagree with the semantics.

Were the boys who punched you not "mean"? Have not both sides of this story shown a great deal of violence and hatred and meanness towards one another? I'm afraid no part of me will allow myself as a caucasion woman from the deep South to be categorized as a "mean" person just because of the social injustices and ignorance of this nation's past. And if we choose to give our race such a title, I'd strongly argue that our race does not stand alone in that category. We've got lots and lots of company.

Who gets to be called the "nice" ones?

Again I feel the same as you. Somehow, for me to voice the thoughts would take the magic out of the process. There seems to be this direct link between the flow of thought and the rhythm of the keyboard. It is as if they are connected in a continuous stream, my fingers to the keys to the out pouring of thought.
My brain is often my nemesis with the constant noise of thought. It never ends. The thoughts are still in there. So I figure as long as I keep the thoughts moving like an ocean tide per se those thoughts will come out when they need to, at the fitting time.

Incredible. I am with you 100%. I grew up in Western, PA where there are NO black people. I think there were two or three in my entire High School. As an adult I can not understand the racist ideas of the people there. Why the hate? We didn't even know any black people.

I find racism to be one of the lowest forms of thinking. The smallest minds in the food chain. Unabashed ignorance of their own choosing.

It's a wonderful list. How are you planning to add those extra hours to the God-established 24 we are accustomed to? I particularly like the walk-about. What fun that would be!

I started "Outliers" and its similar in some respects to Gladwell's other teriffic books, Blink and the Tipping Point, in that the causal relationships we take for granted sometimes are not that accurate, and the reverse, sometimes their are strong and powerful patterns that if we could recognize, we could gain from. As you probably know, "Outliers" attempts to explain the phenomenon of success. As he said on the "Colbert Report" recently, in reference to Bill Gates "lucky" upbringing, "How many kids in 1968 showed up at school to find a computer on their desk? One!"
